Location Scout in Rome
July 16, 2014 7:29 amEarlier this month I was in Rome on assignment for Marie Claire Italy. I can’t post the pictures just yet because the story won’t be out for a few more weeks, so instead I want to show you some behind the scenes of the pre production. Location scouting is one of my favorite parts about being a photographer because it feels like being a kid again. It’s an excuse to explore cool places and see them from every angle. This scene in Dead Poets Society was only intended as a metaphor, but I still think of it every time I go location scouting:

Below are some pictures and a video I took at two different locations. The first is one of the most incredible places I’ve ever been- an old prop house where every single centimeter of space is occupied. It was pouring rain that day and we arrived by scooter, so that explains the image of Mike being fitted with a plastic bag. The second location is a beautiful auditorium called Parco Della Musica designed by Renzo Piano.
