Hester Diamond – Apollo

In April I had the chance to shoot another feature for Apollo magazine on a story about Hester Diamond. I was immediately intrigued when I learned that she’s the mother of Mike D from the Beastie Boys. But after meeting her I realized that’s not at all why she’s interesting. Her home is full of Renaissance and Baroque paintings, yet the decor is contemporary. She’s 82 and has more liveliness than most 30 year olds.

Apollo is a British publication for art collectors and it’s been around since 1925. But last year they decided to bring on a 29 year old editor named Oscar Humphries. The magazine has changed a lot and in my opinion for the better.
