These days I’m grateful to be shooting more and more commercial work. I love the opportunity to collaborate and problem solve with a crew of people from different professional backgrounds. With a creative director over my shoulder, I’m continually forced to view things from a different perspective. Creative directors and account teams know the needs of their clients, who understand the market’s demands. Being surrounded by professionals who understand a market is important when shooting in any country, but especially one that is extremely foreign to me. When I shoot in China it’s vital to have someone around who truly understands the little cultural details that I may not pick up on as an American.
